WHAT YOU GET TO DO
A Project Manager II is expected to manage multiple projects of moderate to high complexity concurrently and without direct supervision. Projects falling within the responsibilities of a Project Manager II may have some, but not all, of the following characteristics:
- Manage 2-4 projects up to $60 million in value or a single project up $25 million
- Expected project margins greater than 15%
- Manage retrofits, greenfield or brownfield project(s) for new or existing Knapp customers
- May be selected to manage a reference project for a new customer or product line
- Integration of scope from 2 or more Knapp Group subsidiary companies
- Integration of limited 3rd party equipment (under 25% of project scope)
- Projects may have minor contractual and schedule risks (accelerated schedule for existing customer, customer specific contract terms)
- Project may require minor software development of established Knapp products
- May be the Knapp US project manager responsible for executing projects in North America as part of a global program within the Knapp Group
A Project Manager II is expected to perform the following responsibilities in completion of his/her work:
- Ensure all required communication between project stakeholders, Knapp resources, suppliers, etc., occurs in a time frame and to the level of detail necessary for a successful project
- Steer all project related activities and ensure they occur in a time frame necessary for a successful project
- Produce, distribute, and file documentation as required to ensure contractual requirements are met and all possible risk to Knapp is mitigated. A partial list of documentation produced by a Project Manager may include:
- Meeting minutes with action items
- Confirmation of discussion
- Meeting agendas
- Critical path schedules
- Project risk register
- Commercial correspondence (Customer and Supplier)
- Cost analysis and project forecast
- Status reports (internal and external)
- Open Issues lists
- Know and understand which issues need to be escalated, when, and to whom, to eliminate negative impact to a project
- Operate and negotiate independently within Knapp policies, procedures, and directives
- Champion a project within the Knapp Group from inception to completion
- Develop and maintain good lines of communication with Knapp team members, stakeholders based at Knapp AG (parent company) or other Knapp subsidiaries, and the site manager and implementation team leads onsite
- Ensure all necessary information flows between Knapp AG, other Knapp subsidiaries, and the Customer
- Have overall responsibility for all commercial items
- Create, maintain, and track project schedules, using critical path methodology
- Maintain project budget forecast, in coordination with Project Controlling
- Manage the Customer contract
- Coordinate change order pricing and proposals
- Evaluate Requests for Quote (RFQs) and subcontracts for major buy-out/3rd party components and systems, in coordination with Procurement and Final Engineering
- Manage sub-contracts for 3rd party equipment and service providers
- Coordinate with resources for the project with managers of internal teams (installation, commissioning, product, etc.)
- Drive resolution of all project-related open issues
- Manage multiple small projects simultaneously
- Manage project teams, which may or may not include a Site Manager, Installation Supervisors, and Commissioning Engineers
- Occasionally, serve as a process owner for one of Knapp’s core project management tools
WHAT YOU HAVE

- Travel required up to 50%
- quarterly international travel
- Professional office etiquette is required at all times
- Physical requirements may include:
- sitting, squatting, walking, reaching out to arm’s length, reaching over-head, lifting between 50-100 pounds, and reading
